You're in great hands

Deciding to seek counselling can be a scary and overwhelming process. We make it our priority to help people feel comfortable during every visit, but especially during the first session. Our office is located within a family practice, so there are many separate rooms partitioned off for privacy.  The counselling room that you are in may change from time to time, but your counsellor will always remain the same.

What to expect

When you arrive at the medical arts building, you will take the elevator up to the 5th floor, and turn right towards suite 512.  If administrative staff is not in, the door may be locked. Do not worry - your therapist will open the door for you in time for your appointment. If our admin is working that evening, you can come in and even pay for your session ahead of time if you are early enough.

Your therapist may ask you to fill out an information and consent form, which will help to identify areas you want to work on, and also to inform you about common practices and risks with therapy.  You may also be asked to fill out electronic or paper assessment tools to help track your progress.

Collaborative partnerships between primary care providers and community mental health and addictions agencies, which are grounded in evidenced-based practice, are necessary to strengthen patient-centred care and ensure the seamless coordination between primary health care and mental health and addictions services
